Pretty Plastic's latest innovation to feature on Wageningen University's new sustainable building

Pretty Plastic is proud to announce the upcoming large-scale application of our recently launched "Basic Third" tile from our product portfolio. This fall, our "Basic Third" facade tiles, made from 100% recycled PVC, will adorn the facade of the newly constructed Plus Ultra III research centre at Wageningen University & Research.

This cutting-edge building, covering approximately 7,600 m² of space for laboratories, pilot plants, and offices, is a milestone in sustainable architecture. The structure, predominantly built from wood (CLT), results in a CO2-negative construction, significantly contributing to stringent sustainability goals. The development of our tiles was made possible through a close collaboration with the architectural firm Proof of the Sum and Kadans Science Partner.

Kadans Science Partner Develops Plus Ultra III, a Hub for Innovation at Wageningen Campus

Kadans Science Partner is developing Plus Ultra III at Wageningen Campus, emphasizing sustainability and innovation. This new multi-tenant building will provide state-of-the-art laboratories, pilot plants, and offices, primarily constructed from cross-laminated timber (CLT) to achieve a CO2-negative footprint. Plus Ultra III will foster interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers and is set to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification, with completion expected in Q3 2025.

Architectural Excellence and Sustainability by Proof of the Sum

Designed by Proof of the Sum, Plus Ultra III embodies eco-conscious innovation at Wageningen University & Research. The building features a facade made from Pretty Plastic's recycled tiles and integrates sustainable elements such as demountability, nature inclusivity, solar energy, and geothermal storage. This design aligns with Wageningen University's mission to leverage nature's potential for a better quality of life.

Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking project!
